In 1807, Heinrich Bucher-Weiss (1784-1850) started running the Murzeln blacksmith's shop in Niederweningen, Switzerland. This was the beginning of a 200-year success story in which Bucher developed from a blacksmith's shop into a global corporation.

To mark our 200th anniversary, the Institute for Historical Research in Economics (Verein für wirtschaftshistorische Studien) in Zurich published a volume entitled «Bucher: Pioneers in Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering 1807 – 2007».
